The Pond Is Flowing Again!

The Spring and Summer of 2024 have brought significant changes and renewed energy to EPCC!

We’re thrilled to share that we’ve served 698 campers so far this year—an incredible increase from just 268 at this time last year! What a remarkable improvement!

We’re also excited to welcome Dana and Debbie Burns to our team. Dana has taken on the role of Projects and Facilities Manager, and Debbie is our new Guest Services Manager. They’ve moved up to the mountain to help us meet our goal of bringing campers back as soon as they’re ready. We’re maintaining our operations just enough to meet this growing need!

Another highlight this summer was refilling the pond. The return of the waterfall has lifted everyone’s spirits, and we look forward to stocking it with trout next spring!

In other good news, the Forest Service has scheduled the construction of a new bridge to provide road access to camp. Set to take place between July and November 2025, this 97-foot steel and concrete bridge will replace the old 30-foot wooden bridge destroyed by the fire. We can’t wait for this much-needed bridge!

Many have asked about our progress with the Hermit’s Peak and Calf Canyon Fire Assistance Act. Despite our relentless efforts, it’s been two years and four months since the fire, and EPCC has yet to receive any financial compensation from FEMA or the federal government. In the meantime, we’re relying on the generosity of donors like you to sustain us. Unfortunately, we’re currently facing a monthly shortfall of about $10,000 as we push forward with new construction and await the new bridge.

We still need your help. Would you consider an additional $500 gift this fall to help us bridge the gap in our operational funding? If you’re able, a gift of $5,000 would make an even greater impact.

We’re still here, and we’re still providing a place for God to change lives. I’m thankful for all of you! -Nate
