Group Leader Training – Part 1: Set Your Own Price for Youth Camps

This is the first post in a series that is designed to help Group Leaders be equipped for Summer Camp 2020 at El Porvenir. If you are the Group Leader, you are both an event coordinator and an event planner for what is really a church sponsored event. El Porvenir provides the event experience, the Group Leader oversees the participation of their group at that event with the support of their church.

The biggest change to the Summer Youth Camp program this year is in regard to pricing. Here is a summary of the changes:

  1. El Porvenir is no longer offering tiered pricing. In 2020, there will be 1 tuition fee for each event.
  2. El Porvenir will charge the church for each attendee in the group, the same amount for campers and sponsors. The fees for all 3 youth camps have been reduced to compensate for this change. El Porvenir will be charging the church, the church will be charging (or not charging) the campers and sponsors. This is an important detail that gives churches more freedom and ownership over the pricing experience for campers and sponsors.
  3. Each church will set their own separate prices for their campers and sponsors. So if Church A wants campers to pay $250 and sponsors to pay $0, they can do that. If Church B wants campers to pay $150 and sponsors to pay $50, they can do that. We’ll set your online registration pricing up according to your choice.
  4. The Group Leader will need to register their group online before campers can register. Each Group Leader will create a username and password to set up their Group Leader portal which will allow them to manage their camper registrations. A deposit payment of $25/bed will be required. All deposits received will be applied towards the final balance due for that event.
  5. Campers will still register online like previous years only this time they will select the group from a list of registered groups. Campers will need their unique coupon code from their church.
